Persuasive Writing
For the past 2 weeks during writing we have been working on persuasive writing this is one of mine. Hope you like it :)
Movies Are More Enjoyable Than Books
Movies are an interesting and fun way to spend the afternoon being able to feel like you can escape to a different world for a few hours. In 2020 around 300 movies were released that year. Movies are internationally appreciated by the people of the world because of the many different genres of them. I strongly believe that movies are better than books.
Movies show an entire story within a relatively short period of time. If you have a big 600 page book and it takes you 1 week to finish, you could watch the movie version of the same story and it will only take around 3 hours at the most. For example most movies take between 1 and a half hours 3 and a half hours for movies that you can find easily on Netflix or Disney Plus.
Secondly, movies can be enjoyed as a fun outing with friends or family. For your birthday you can go to the movies and you and your friends will be able to enjoy it together. If you try to read books with friends it won't be that fun and your friends will probably get bored and want to go home.
Lastly, movies showcase the talents of the cast and the film crew. If you watch a movie with really good CGI you will be more likely to recommend it to friends and family even if the book wasn't that good. For example if everyone started reading books and abandoning movies there would be a lot of actors being put out of business.
I fully agree that movies are better than books. Because they show an entire story in a short time-frame, you can watch them with friends when you can't with books and movies that showcase the talents of the cast and the film crew. What do you think about this topic? If you're not convinced, read a book that has been turned into a movie and then compare them together.

Butterphant Report
This term for writing we have been working on reports and Miss Hines said she wanted us to write a report about a fake animal. We got to choose to do it with a partner and I did it with Klaudia. To do this we had to first pick our fake animal and then make a planning scaffold for our writing. After that we had to start writing and this is our final product. Hope you like it :)
The butterphant is a very interesting animal. They have many interesting characteristics. They live in The treetops of Africa. They also have a very effective way of getting rid of their enemies.
Butterphants are really interesting creatures. Their scientific name is Loxolocera. They are smaller than normal elephants because of their butterfly ancestry. They are basically an elephant with butterfly wings for ears. Their diet consists of roots, grass, fruit and nectar plants. Thanks to their butterfly wing ears they have the ability to fly. Butterphants bathe in thick nectar after hot and exhausting days. They like to bathe in bubbling mud on cold days when it is too cold to bathe in cold nectar. In winter they start to begin their mating season and it ends at the start of spring. Their young are called Camph and they are born through the trunk of their mother in an egg. They are also severely endangered and there are no more than 120 of them left.
The butterphant usually lives in the Baobab treetops in Africa. Sometimes you can find it scouring the plains for food or to find somewhere to bathe. If they are unfortunate enough to be born in a place with no trees they will most likely die. In the early 17th century they chose to live in the Baobab tree because it is one of the only trees that can hold their weight.
To defend against their enemies, which are Hornets and sandflies, they flap their wing ears and create a wind so powerful that the enemies go blow away. Their wind is so strong that it's almost impossible to stay stable on the ground near the Butterphant. It is as strong as a wind turbine at full power.
If the Butterphant gets stung/bitten, The will blow up 10x their actual size, they also turn a dark purple colour.
In conclusion, Butterphants are severely endangered and the population is just about 120. You can find them peacefully caring for their baby camph And washing themselves up, All in the treetops of africa. Blowing their enemies away just with a flap of their wing ears, it's a pretty amazing animal with an interesting lifestyle.

Sloths Report
This term we are working on writing reports for writing. This is mine.Hope you like it 😀
Sloths
Sloths are one of the most interesting animals on the planet. They eat so many interesting foods. They live in parts of America. Furthermore, they also have many dangerous predators.
Sloths eat so many different things. A sloths diet consists of leaves from the cecropia tree, twigs and buds. They get their water from juicy plants. Their low metabolism means that they can survive on barely any food. It takes them a day to process food that would take other animals only hours to process. Did you know that they only come down their tree once a week to go to the bathroom, and when they poop they poop out about half their body weight.
Sloths live in very interesting places. Sloths live in the treetops of trees in Central and South American tropical forests. To move from tree to tree the swing from canopy vines. They spend most of their lives in the treetops napping and remaining hidden from their predators.
Sloths have many vairing predators. A sloth's main predators are jaguars and eagles. Their other predators include harpy eagles, ocelots and other big cats. They hide in their tree because they are the same color as the tree. Their slowness is not just being lazy, but it helps them survive because the predators don't see the tree rustling so as not to give away their hiding spot.
In conclusion sloths are a very fascinating animal that lives in ways that are different from other animals.

The Runaway
This week me Madison and Klaudia wrote this with the help of Miss J. We had to write a sensory story. This is ours. I hope you like it :)
The Runaway
I was running away from home after the latest fight between my mum and I, when I fell over. An excruciating pain shot through my back and up my spine. The world went black. Moments later I was in a potato sack, being thrown into the back of a van. Rough and scratchy against my skin. Juddering. I felt the van starting to move. Where was I going? I wondered. We drove for what felt like days, it was probably just a few hours. When we stopped we were parked on the side of a road I thought.
All I had on me was my phone. But when I was thrown in the van the screen cracked. I was lucky enough for the phone to still work. I tried to call someone for help, but I had no reception.
Then I noticed there was a tiny hole In the sack. I squinted my eyes looking into the hole. I thought I saw the figure of my dad. I got frightened because the last time I saw him was when I was 6. But recognised him straight away. But why would he take me?
Through the blur of the potato sack, I saw him jump out of the van and yank open the door in the back.. The sack and me, was pulled out of the van and I was shoved onto the driveway.
What is he going to do to me?!
